We are excited to open the submission window for Workshops and our Cross-Country Research Showcase for the virtual SCO-SCO 2026 Conference. The deadline for submission is May 31st, 2026.

Calls for individual student presentation and 3 minute thesis (3MT) will be opening in May.

At the time of registration you are encouraged to make a donation to the society, which will directly support student travel to our 2027 joint conference in Viña del Mar, Chile!

We invite proposals for interactive online workshops for members of our ornithology community. Workshops should provide practical skills, methodological training, or collaborative problem‑solving relevant to ornithological research, monitoring, conservation, and outreach across Canada.

Sponsor workshops are offered to any organization donating $500 to support this year’s conference.

Cross‑Country Research Showcase

We invite lab groups from academic institutions, government agencies, and NGOs to submit research talks showcasing the breadth and depth of their work in Canadian ornithology. This symposium is a prime opportunity for your team to highlight: - the research themes and core questions your lab investigates - the ecosystems and regions you study across Canada - focal species and conservation or management implications - methods and collaborative approaches (field work, lab techniques, modelling, community science, Indigenous knowledge partnerships, etc.)

Who should apply

  • University research labs and graduate student groups
  • Government research units and wildlife agencies
  • NGO conservation and research teams

Benefits of presenting:

  • Increase visibility of your lab’s research across Canada
  • Foster new collaborations among academic, governmental, and NGO partners

Student Presentations

  • Traditional student presentations will enable early career ornithologists to share their work.

3 Minute Thesis (3MT)

We will be hosting an unofficial 3MT competition for students to share an overview of their thesis in 3 minutes. Start practicing your elevator pitch! Details and submission information to come.
